Instrumental Music Program Philosophy
It is the belief of the Rockhurst High School Music Department that music is an integral part of everyday life. It is a necessary component in the development of our humanness and spirituality. Music is an underlying pulse that connects the abstract, with reality.
We believe that music is one of the fine arts that transcends national and cultural boundaries and is one of the unifying elements working towards global unity.
In this regard, we at Rockhurst High School endeavor to reach out into our communities and celebrate the myriad facets of music. In order to integrate this philosophy, we encourage our students to strive to become musicians of the highest caliber, and to implement these goals into their courses of study.
